SWAN SONG, 2017

WORK IN PROGRESS

The following project, as suggested by its name, deals with death and farewell. The process of grieving on a beloved person is compared to the Japanese Kintsugi tradition, of reconstructing broken pottery,  with precious materials. The philosophy behind the act is to treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. The fragments of the porcelain swan are glossing, laying on the cellophane shrouds, frozen in time, crying to be assembled together.
